Gone were the days of Famous Amos

I had myfirst taste of the chocolate chip cookie during the 80s, when there was this Famous Amos choco chip cookie stall in Sungai Wang,Kuala LUmpur. . . . .The price started at RM2.20 per 100gm, with about 13 pieces cookies the size about 3.5cm in diameter. . . . .. . . .. . . . you can see whole pecan nuts and choco chips on the surface of the cookies, and the experience was 'like heaven'. . . . . . . . Then when economy in Malaysia boomed, the cookies became smaller, price of a 100gm kept rising, the quality of the choco taste degraded. The cookies became smaller, so that each one cannot hold a whole pecan nut any more, and the company started giving you pecan chips. Little did i know that choco chips for cooking such cookies come in all sorts of grades, and guess what, when everybody in the Kuala Lumpur economy only wanted to earn greater profits (so that the bosses can fuel their never-ending quest for bigger and more luxurious cars or houses), the 'Famous' lost its appeal. . . . . . . . . . So here comes. . I stopped buying the 'Famous' and jumped onto the bandwagon of 'making our own cookies' for consumption, festival or not. . .
rule of thumb, get the best quality flour , and of course, chocolate chips you can find. . . . . . . . . .
.. no, we are not making them like the old 'Famous' recipe, we need to keep them small, so that people can taste more varieties of cookies during the CNY. . . . The aroma is what we used to sniff back then in Sungai Wang.. . . . . . .
