have they any brains?

while the march 8th general elections gave our federal government a shock of their lives, the global price hike sent our pm and his 'henchmen' scrambling for ways to address the fuel pricing situation. then like i have anticipated, the price was set at above RM2.50 per litre for unleaded petrol.
ever since our country achieved independence 50 years ago, our highly paid government servants (especially those with a licence to make a kill) have been continuously busy seeking short term solutions to address the many crises effected by global market forces. which brings me to doubt whether our leaders are actually people without far-sighted vision or are non-competent enough to implement long-term solutions for the good of our future generations. it seems to me, after those hard-working 5o years, we at this generation do not live a better life than those prior to us, which leaves much to be considered.

now that the government introduced a rebate scheme to counter the fuel price hike, i think apparently it looks to be good, but given the 'violation overwhelms enforcement' scenario in most of our malaysian laws, i think the final scene could definitely witness a flurry of car workshops conspiring with public servants to breed a whole new batch of phantom car registration cards in order to claim the rebates. even insurance companies could have join in the fun. there are instant protests to the price hike, probably having people resorting to smaller cars or other modes of transport. but i think there is no way malaysians could revert to using the public trasport, mainly because our malaysian roads were not built with the walking pedestrian in mind, no pavements were available for commuters to move safely from one stop to the other. even after getting off the public transport, people risk being run down by notorious drivers, or get hurt by snatch thieves. i wonder our road transport ministry ever have any brains to allow roads w/o pavemnts to be built all over the country? to think of it, our government even have the balls to play up malaysian tourism, are they asking the tourists to walk on the roads? what lousy leaders do we have?
