I wasn't born an anti-apple guy. In fact I need to munch one apple every morning I wake up. . . . .
I STILL recall the time back in the 80s, when I almost wanted to make a Mac SE II purchase for my desktop publishing work. . . . .
Just before I took the plunge, I gave myself some thought. WinTel could be better. . . . . For 1 simple reason. You get more for less dollars. . . . .
. . . . .
Those days, Macs have a thirty-year generation gap ahead of Windows, in that the former runs faster, smoother. . . . . .
BUT, to me being just fast is not enough. The one aspect of wintel-alliance which appealed to me was: the hardware open architecture. Being 'open' means allowing infinite opportunities and resources, by everyone, for everyone.... ... ...
. . . . .
20 years later, Wintel captured more than 90% of the personal computer market, and now, since SOHO is so prevalent in the business world, personal also meant business. So to speak, no matter how fast you let an apple or mac run, it's total waste when not many are taking part in the 'run'. Today, the generation gap has possibly narrowed, if not réversed. How many Macs are bringing in the cash to the apple computer compared to 20 years ago?. . . . .
. . . . .
The apple company lost in their very own ' A PC in every home' battle.
. . . . .
Sure enough, being an innovative company, they quickly managed to churn out another winner product in the tablet and mobile phone market, yet again with the same selling point: faster and smoother. . . . .
. . . . .
In a race, there is less importance in 'WHO LEADS THE RACE' than in 'WHO IMPROVES AND OVERTAKES THE LEADER', hence the initial offering of 500,000 apps in-store for i-devices doesn't really meant anything, when apps for the android (though miserably few in the beginning), added up tremendously to eat away apple's market share.. . . . .
. . . . .
Coincidentally, android (linux) is an 'open' source software, empowering the whole world with unlimited creativity, bashing the daylights out of apple's. . . . .
. . . . .It goes to show that, by just running something FAST(er) and SMOOTH(er) isn't enough to win the battle, YOU NEED TO BE ABLE TO 'EMPOWER' THE USER(here, I mean the more users the better) TO 'GET THINGS DONE'. . . . .
Now, do we foresee another waterloo ahead in the apple's path? I say YES. . . . . .
. . . . .
In communication, 'open' is unavoidable, in order to achieve total connectivity. You need to open your doors to allow others come through, so by this time, apples should have embraced the common belief, and NOT continue to hide behind closed doors, else the same fate may strike twice.
