Businessmen: I am not STUPID..... .....
..... .....
Many years ago, departmental stores used to have 'SALES' events to boost sales and improve income..... .....
..... ..... No, not this. . They usually have SALES to reward loyal customers, and allow people to buy things at a price lower than normal times. . . . .
Suddenly, the consumers become smarter, they buy less and less during normal days, and reserve all shopping for 'SALES' day. . . . .
. . . . .
Wife says, this has become the norm today, so much so departmental stores literally sells close to nothing on normal days, that they only have sales when there is a 'SALE'.. . . .
. . . . .
The reason consumers only shop on 'SALES' days, is due to the attraction of big discounts like 70% off, 80% off and perks like cash voucher rebates.. . . . .
. . . . .
These have become sole factors in attracting customers to spend money, people just BECAME SMARTER. . . . .
. . . . .
Or is it , that the businessmen are 'outsmarted' by the buyers?. Does this mean the businessmen are STUPID?. . . . .
. . . . .
While the consumers are quietly thinking that they are SMARTER than the businessmen, the latter are also silently shedding their 'stupidness'. . . . .
Now, department stores are having 'SALES' events every other week, placards displaying '50 or 80% discount' gets hung virtually all-year-round, and consumers keep coming back for MORE...... .....
. . . . .
BUT THEN, did you ever do a research on the discounted items on SALE? The businessmen actually got smarter than you and I the customer, by hiking the prices before slapping on a discount figure. Or better still, place a sky-high price for the products on normal days, so that when 'SALES' day arrives, the slashed price still 'LOOKED TEMPTING WITH A BIG DISCOUNT'. This would end up a win-win situation with both a happy customer and a happier dealer. . . . .
The customer goes home thinking he bought something expensive at a lower price, and the businessmen still gets to earn his projected profits.. . . . .
There is a catch here. . . . . Please note, the products you buy on a 'SALES' day, are not those you use to see displayed on a normal day, BUT a different batch of rush-jobs produced specifically for the 'SPECIAL SALES' DAY. . . . .
UNBELIEVABLE?. . . . Believe it.
