Malaysians love dirty food

There was this guy who sells braised chicken and duck rice. He learned the recipe from his father, who had a reputation for this hawker dish dating back to 40 years ago.

Ever since I moved my family to the present area, I have been patronising the stall once every week. My agenda for eating out has never been busy, hence my patronising his stall (every time I have to eat out) made me look like an addict to this dish.

One day, the stall owner decided to move to a food centre where they have more customers, and he invited me to continue patronising him at the new stall, just two blocks away.

But I didn't visit the his stall even once.
Reason: the place where he rented his stall doesn't match up to my minimum expectation of a hawker food stop.

I knew the place too well to develop a dislike it, and also the other hawkers manning the stalls there.

The reasoning is simple: Many of the hawkers at the other food stalls were too unhygienic, and made the location too nauseating for me to even consider just sitting there. Why so many people still patronise the place, it is not for me to guess.

Many a time, I have seen those hawkers throwing food remains into the drains (those that go around the entire building block), and the remains include raw fish bones and fins.

No, no, they didn't dispose off the remains into the drain in front of their stalls, BUT they are 'considerate' enough to walk the extra metres to the block opposite theirs (back-to-back, 15 ft away), and dump the rubbish there. ( I presume their intention is to make sure the drain directly in front of their stalls are kept CLEAN, yeah)

WOW, with such black heart, I just couldn't imagine what type of food they will prepare for their customers, in exchange for that few bucks. RIGHT, what actually could you expect for a few bucks, huh?

People say I am freak, living in Malaysia isn't about healthy living. It is about: having a heart and concern for some 'poor' hawkers' livelihood (ricebowl, I mean).

Wah, It's no wonder that I knew one guy who frequented that place a lot, and mind you he is the one who installed two of those 'six-stage' nanoic water-filters at home. 'Health-consciousness' he said. Luckily I do not know all the other customers of that place, otherwise this piece won't have a fullstop.
