It's been 35 years or more, I haven't tasted this dish.
Tha 7 Stars flanking the Moon (appetiser prelude to Chinese 10-course dinner sets) was the pride of numerous restaurants in Kuala Lumpur.
It consists of a dome-shaped bird's nest jelly with cold chicken meat, surrounded by 7 other delicacies.
They are:
1. shark's fin shreds fried with egg
2. preserved ham stewed in honey
3. green pea pods fried with clams and scallops
4. abalone slices
5. prawn ball fried in salted egg yolk
6. fried crab claws wrapped in fish paste
7. deep fried drummet
Yesterday, wife tried her hand at this recipe, but with different ingredients due to lack of helping hands.
Anyway, she dished out two portions of the delicacies to cater for 8 adults and 5 kids.
How does it taste for a first try? Absolutely speechless.
