Recycling mentality gone down the drain

I recall having read in the news about people being concern over wastage of resources, promoting recycling activities and so forth, but it troubles my mind to know people wasting away valuable paper pulp just for the sake of betting their luck on a lucky-draw-style contest. If I were to cut out the contest form in my normal daily, that is reasonable. But when you buy hundreds of copies of paper just for the sake of upping your chances, then this activity can be likened to that of gambling. If you want to bet on your luck, go to the lotteries, at least you do not have to buy 20kg of paper. Moreover, RM1 could win you RM2000. Even if you could afford the paper money, think for the pitiful trees. I see this contest organised by the daily as one that does not reconcile with the Recycling Campaign promoted not long ago. Has the "Save the trees" motto gone down the drain?
